1. Who we are
Younify Tech Limited (“Younify Tech”, “we”, “us”) is a company registered in England & Wales, company number 15449518, with a registered office in London, United Kingdom. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data across our products and services, including our mobile app Zap and our website at younifytech.com.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run our products. Depending on which of our products you use, that may include:
- Account information: phone number, username, display name, profile picture, country and country code.
- Audio messages (zaps): voice recordings you send to other users, stored temporarily so the recipient can play them.
- Contacts: if you grant permission, we upload a hash of your phone contacts to match against other Zap users. Raw contact data is not stored after matching.
- Social graph: your friends, friend requests sent and received, and the zaps exchanged between you and your friends.
- Device & technical data: device model, OS version, app version, crash reports, push notification tokens, and approximate location derived from your IP.
- Product analytics: anonymised usage events (screens viewed, actions taken) so we can improve the product.
- Purchase data: if you buy coins or other in-app items, purchase receipts from Apple or Google (we never see your card).
3. How we use it
- To create and run your account.
- To deliver zaps, friend requests, and notifications.
- To match your phone contacts to existing Zap users so you can find friends.
- To keep the service secure, detect abuse, and debug problems.
- To measure and improve how people use our products.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the product, under contract:
- Google Cloud Platform & Firebase — authentication (phone, Apple, Google sign-in), file storage, push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics.
- Amazon Web Services (S3) — storage of audio zaps and profile pictures, EU region.
- Twilio — SMS one-time passcodes where Twilio is used for phone verification.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications to your device.
- Sentry & PostHog — crash reporting and anonymised product analytics.
- Apple & Google — where you authenticate via Sign in with Apple or Google, or purchase in-app items.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid court order.
5. Where your data is stored
Our primary databases and application servers are hosted in the European Union. Audio files are stored in AWS eu-west-2 (London) and transitioning to Google Cloud Storage in the EU multi-region. Some sub-processors (Firebase, Expo, Sentry) may transfer data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or equivalent safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data is kept while your account is active.
- Zaps are kept until the recipient opens them, and typically purged within 30 days.
- Crash and analytics data is kept for up to 12 months.
- If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep it longer.
7. Your rights (UK & EU)
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can:
- Delete your account from inside the Zap app (Settings → Delete Account).
- Email us at privacy@younifytech.com for any other request. We respond within 30 days.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Children
Zap is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age of consent in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from children under this age. If you believe a child has given us data, email privacy@younifytech.com and we will remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or by email. Continued use of our products after a change means you accept the updated policy.
